I agree, but alas I traded mine in for the V:
I do miss it somewhat, but the V2 supplants it while being such a unicorn that I kinda had to get (and keep) one while I still had the chance....

What year was your E90? I assume that it’s a manual.

I had 2x! Both of them Melbourne Red Metallic.
Got the MY 2008 because I promised myself that if BMW Financial ever offered to finance M3s at 0.9% then I’d get one. I thought I was pretty safe because such rates were never available for M cars. Then, mid-2008's financial downturn happened, dealers were over-stocked, so they did. And, so I did.
Yes, it was 6MT. I heard that the vast majority of E90 M3 Sedans produced in MY2008 was 6MT, because the factory did not have enough 7M-DCT gearboxes to go around... and the E93 Cabs production was swallowing them up.
As for why Red? I basically told the dealer that since Phoenix Yellow was no longer available, then I will take any colour except for Alpine White... plus, you guys have that Red one out on that elevated corner platform facing the street, and it’s been there for months... so why don’t you gimme a deal on it and I’ll take it off your hands?
Then, got the MY2011 LCI, because after 3 years I increasingly felt that the S65 engine is just more suited to the DCT. Also got the updated “2nd-gen” iDrive to boot, which was a massive improvement.
Hence the LED tails:
As for why Red again, so nobody even knew that I got a new car unless they spotted the LCI differences? Well, it was the end of E90 production, orders were already closed, and it was one of the last to be shipped into Western Canada without being spoken for.

Didn’t realize there was ever a shortage of DCTs in 2008, but that would explain why most 2008s were 6MTs and the LCI cars were DCTs.
I asked what year because the pre-LCI and LCI cars are identical from the front.
As far as the unicorn part, E90 M3s aren’t exactly common to begin with and if you had gotten a 6MT LCI sedan, you’d have 1/1055 in US and Canada. Although, I’m not sure that’s enough to consider them a unicorn. I’m assuming your V is a manual, any idea on the numbers sold with a manual?

Yes, and I knew that the MY2008 and MY2011 are identical from the front, so I had to clarify that I have had both pre-LCI and LCI :-P
My V2 is indeed equipped with the Tremec TR6060 6MT, and is 1/14 00 worldwide (though of course it was mostly only available in US and Canada) and just a single model (no facelift was done) throughout the 6 years run.
If I had kept the E90 then I was already planning on changing the front buckets to Recaros, brakes to Brembo GT + brake ducting, coilovers, then finally adding a positive displacement supercharger for more useable mid-range torque.
Hence the V2, with the Recaros:
Brembos with brake ducts:
MagneRide shocks:
...and finally, the Eaton TVS supercharger:
